Welcome home 41's, welcome back 43's, and a very warm welcome to ACEN!

Fall semester is in full swing and the HCSNA could not be more excited about this semester's activities. We are proud to announce that we are now an official NSNA Total School Membership Chapter! We have grown significantly from 16 members, including alumni, to 58 current active members!

The incoming class of 41's (first semester students) were eager to get involved, which allowed us to hit the ground running this 2016-2017 academic year. We have already completed our fall apparel sale, and are in the midst of registering for and organizing our trip to the CNSA Convention in Visalia, CA on October 7-9th!. A record number of Hartnell ADN students from all levels will be attending this convention and we're thrilled to grow in our understanding of what it means to be a nurse, and to share our new insights with classmates, instructors, and community members.

Our Mentorship Program is moving along full speed. All 41's who have expressed interest in being mentored have been paired with 43's. Our goal is to grow the Mentorship Program further by involving recent alumni as mentors to the 43's. We aspire to foster a culture of peer-support and teamwork that we will take with us throughout our careers as nurses, Salinas Valley, and beyond!.

We will also be hosting the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) this month, and we are excited for the opportunity to share our Hartnell College Nursing and Allied Health ADN program with their representatives.

On a softer note, all of us at HCSNA are thrilled to be reunited with our nursing school family! We did not spend the entire summer apart though. We hosted our annual HCSNA Welcome Back BBQ in July, furthered our education at California State University of the Monterey Bay BSN program, and continued courses at Hartnell College. Many of us were able to organize and attend a special EKG class designed specifically for nursing students through Medics for Life in Prunedale, California. It was a fun class that helped us reconnect and transition back into school mode after our summer vacation!
